This was the
second choice. It is well built.
The software has lots of features
and is easy to setup. It also includes
the ability to scan multiple pages
into a single PDF File. The ink
cartridges are separate for each
color which makes refilling easy
but you can also purchase generic
cartridges for very low prices.
Using individual ink cartridges
also means you do not have to refill
a tri-color cartridge just because
one color runs out. The single
color individual cartridges last
much longer than tri-color types
too.
I really liked
this unit other than the ADF(auto
document feeder).
Documents
jam in the document feeder, it
will only
scan 8.5" wide so no international
documents can be scanned, it eats
expensive original page and tears
them up. When it
does adf scan, it scans crooked so
I have
to fix every scan by hand. This
defeats the purpose of an AUTOMATIC
document feeder.
The unit I
tested also has
been giving 'SCANNER
ERROR' messages since the
day I plugged it in. Even though
I cannot find anything
wrong with
the
scanner, it would give these messages
and refuse to scan. I can turn
the unit off and back on, which
I had
to do every time, and it would
scan fine. Then after it sat for
several
hours, suddenly this error
would come up. The scanner dependent
features became useless. I had
to restart it every time I wanted
to
scan or
fax.
The rating
is 3.5 out of 4 boxes because it
performed well in all other areas.
My Scanner Error may have been
a problem with this specific unit
but it was still quite annoying
and made the entire experience
unnecessarily difficult.
